Shearwater ID - Cape May, NJ (1 Viewer)

I was wondering if anyone could help out with an id for this individual. I was sea watching at Avalon jetty in Cape May and this bird was very distant. Cory's Shearwaters have been seen there the last few days and this bird has the look of a shearwater to me and is dark above, light below, and may have a lighter bill with dark tip. I was only able to get 2 photos and tried to show the first in multiple sizes/crops. Thanks so much for the help.

My first thought was a big wader (shorebird). But impossible to tell from just these photos, and, for all I know, it might have been obviously a shearwater when seen in the field.
