Hi,

I captured these images yesterday just off Great Blasket Island, County Cork, Ireland. They were taken about a minute apart, so the light is different for each image. Shearwaters I know, but which ones?

Best regards,

Victor.

This looks like a Manx to me. I'm seeing the little white notches behind the crown and where the trailing edge of the wing joins the body. I'm also seeing a neat cap, and gleaming white underparts where the underparts can be seen - including pretty much all the way down to the undertail coverts. This should all be pretty dusky in a Balearic.

Manx can (and often do) look brown toned on the upperparts in strong sunlight

Thanks Mark & Ryan. Subsequent to last night I have had somebody here identify both of them as Juvenile Manx. I really appreciate the help I get from the Forum!
