Photos taken yesterday at Topanga State Beach West of Los Angeles, California.

Looks like a Whimbrel. Down-turned beak, but not long enough to be a long-billed curlew.

Yes (Hudsonian) whimbrel. Note the crown stripes which are very obvious in this picture. Hudsonian is increasingly treated as a different species from other whimbrels but apparently not by ebird
