Depends on what camera you are using? If you are using a crop frame camera I wouldn't bother, as the crop factor acts like a teleconverter, so it will be a bit like stacking teleconverters on a small aperture lens, tests have shown on similar combinations that it's no better and sometimes worse than just cropping the image in editing.
