Songbird ID help please - Maine USA (1 Viewer)

This bird flew into our window pane this morning and unfortunately did not survive. We have been unable to identify it.

It measures approximately 5"/12.5cm, is gray with a brown & black cap, and a white breast streaked with dark spots.

We are located in southern Maine, USA, not far from the coast.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Actually, simple light-coloured curtains placed just behind should work just as well, see page 15 (= 17) and 33 (= 35).
