Never seen this before in my patch.
About the size of a Common Myna. The charcoal grey colour is very new to me.

Yes, my initial reaction as well. A male perhaps?
The grey colour is an artifact then of my camera? with naked eyes it appeared grey to me as well.
 
I think it's a young male, Blue Rock Thrush with a bit of retained, brown, immature feathering now I've seen the book.
