Upton Warren (100 Viewers)

Very high water levels at the moors this morning all the islands just about covered and the water is now across the causeway .
The tree surgeons have done a great job on the willow next to the Jacob's hide , really good views out of the end window now .
Plenty of birds around , huge pidgeon / dove / corvid flock in the seed field , 9 drake pochard , 2 oyster catchers , just one curlew , lots of reed buntings and 2 Great crested grebes getting very interested in each other .

Fairly quiet yesterday afternoon at a sunny but chilly Moors Pool. Eight Avocets around Amy's/east island, disturbed from Flashes, I'm advised, by a gunshot from beyond the third flash earlier in the afternoon. Other waders present were: Oystercatcher (2), Curlew (3+) & Lapwing (3), all seen from the East Hide. On the water were 8 male Pochards, six Shovelers, 38 Tufted Ducks, 3+ Little Grebes & a pair of Great Crested Grebes. At least three Song Thrushes & a Mistle Thrush in song, along with 4+ Cetti's Warblers. Water still high, the marker in Amy's showing the level at 8.

A reminder of the half monthly maximum Avocet counts up to the end of 2020. Hopefully Mike or Gert can advise of any higher counts in subsequent years.
