What kind of gull? - Upper Peninsula, Michigan, USA (1 Viewer)

I took these photos last weekend in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, on the shore of Lake Superior near Pictured Rocks. The large dark gull was the only one of its kind, foraging near a large number of ring-billed gulls. This one was near double the size of the ring-bills. Any idea what it is? I have quite a few additional pictures (although none of them of spectacular clarity) that I can add if necessary.
