Genus: Anthracoceros

Description

Five species of Hornbill found in tropical Asia.

  • Medium-sized Hornbills
  • Black-and-white plumage
  • Large casque (casque of female almost as large as that of male)
  • Feed at nest by regurgitation
  • No white on back

They are superficially similar to the African Hornbills of the genera Bycanistes and Ceratogymna.

Taxonomy

Anthracoceros is a genus in the family Bucerotidae.
