Identification
Note ivory bill and thick broken ivory white eyeing. Black head extending down back of neck and upper back. Indigo lower back is striking. Blue and rust colored plumes on male and two very long black tail steamers. Female similar but lacking steamers and plumes.

Two subspecies are known, rudolphi and margaritae.

Territorial, garding fruit trees, especially in the morning.
