Identification

Olive green body, darker on back, grey bill, dark eye.

Distribution

Africa
Western Africa: Angola
Eastern Africa: Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya

Taxonomy

Placed in genus Crithagra by Gill and Donsker.
Polytypic. Consists of two subspecies.

Subspecies[1]

  • S. c. citrinelloides:
  • S. c. kikuyensis:
  • Highlands of south and south-western Kenya

A third subspecies Serinus citrinelloides martinsi is recognised by some authorities.[2]

Highlands.
