- Black head with white streaks
- Distinctive crest
- Chestnut upperparts, duskier on wings and tail
- Underparts ochraceous
- White speckled dusky throat
Distribution
South America: found in south-eastern Brazil (Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul) to north-eastern Argentina
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Moist montane forests, particularly pines, and plantations.
