Distribution

South America: found in the Andes of western Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba and western Santa Cruz).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1]; an additional subspecies bejaranoi is not accepted by all authorities[2].

This species might belong in a different genus and the scientific name would then become Asthenes harterti.

Habitat

Moist montanes and high-altitude grassland.
