Stiphrornis erythrothorax

Includes: Sangha Robin; Gabon Forest Robin; Eastern Forest Robin; Olive-backed Forest Robin

Distribution

Tropical sub-Saharan Africa.

Taxonomy

Four subspecies recognized:²

• S. e. erythrothorax from Sierra Leone east to southern Nigeria
• S. e. gabonensis (Gabon Forest Robin) in Cameroon, Gabon and Bioko
• S. e. sanghensis (Sangha Robin) in the Central African Republic
• S. e. xanthogaster (Eastern Forest Robin) from Cameroon east to Zaire, Uganda and adjacent Sudan
• S. e. pyrrholaemus (Olive-backed Forest Robin) in south-west Gabon.

Some authorities^1,3 recognise these taxa as full species.
