Distribution
Central and South America:
Central America occurs only in Panama,
South America: found in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
Taxonomy
Formerly placed in the genus Chloropipo.
Subspecies
Four subspecies are recognized1:
- C. h. suffusa:
- C. h. litae:
- Tropical western Colombia to north-western Ecuador (south to Pichincha)
- C. h. holochlora:
- Tropical south-eastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador and eastern Peru (south to Junín)
- C. h. viridior:
- Foothills of south-eastern Peru (Cusco and north-western Puno)
Habitat
Lowland and foothill moist and wet forests.
Behaviour
Diet
Not a lot is know about their diet; but thought to be mainly insectivorous although they are occasionally seen in fruiting trees.
