Migrating Collared Doves (1 Viewer)

Bimble and patch
Every May good numbers of Collared Doves (tens to hundreds) pass North Wales headlands, mainly seen past the Great Orme and South Stack. Anyone know where they're going and why? Are they still "invading" but masked by the large breeding population?
Cheers.

North and west is where they are going - we get em every year as well (you can get 20 or so in a flock on St Kilda some Junes), and a couple of summers ago my parents saw one come on board a cruise ship halfway between Scotland and Iceland. We've got lots just now with all these persistent SE winds.

Still seem to be trying to cross the Atlantic (although they are common in SE there but probably got there by boat originally)

Cheers,
Andrew
