Good birding places locally are:

Fingringhoe Wick, Woodland, Lakes, and estuary.

Nature reserve run by Essex Wildlife Trust.
3 miles from Colchester on the B1025.
Well signposted.

Visitor centre, approx 6 hides, plus veiwing tower in the centre.

Also Lexden Gathering Grounds also run by EWT.
entry free of charge.
Cooks lane off Cymbaline way.
Free entry next to A12.
Sparrowhawk, LSW, and Pine Hawk Moth.


Stour Estuary near Harwich.
RSPB reseerve, small donation requested.
Woodland and tidal mud flats.
Good all year round, with winter visiters.

Marks Hall estate.
Take A120 from colchester, turn left onto B1024 then turn first left, sign posted.
Arboretum, lakes, Woodland and farmland.
Good mix of species including all the woddpeckers, sparowhawk, Bullfinches, most of the tit family, goldcrest and firecrest.
£3! car park charge, but beggars cant be choosers?

Will post some sites in the future.
