I'm losing it!
On our recent trip to Hungary we saw a lot of what we were told were Great Banded Greyling. Being ignorant on butterflies are these common? How widespread are they? Any help appreciated.

Hi James,
According to my book, their flight period is June/July.
Range : From Western Europe Through Asia Minor to Iran and Himalayas

Distribution : Widely distributed and generally common from Spain,Portugal,france, with their northern limits in central Germany,Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania.
Absent from Britain, Belgium, Holland, Balearic Islands, Crete and North Africa.
