What sounds like a Scops Owl, but isn't? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,
In gardens bordering broadleaf woodland close to where I live (c 30km south of Paris), something (insect? frog?) is doing a damn good impression of Scops Owl, the only difference being the notes are not as loud, and several individuals seem to be calling from the same place. The calling starts just after nightfall (10:15pm).
Any ideas?

Alytes obstetricans!
A classical case in the Netherlands is a Midwife Toad that was reported as a Scops Owl by a birder who just moved to the only area in the Netherlands where they occur naturally.
This scenario was repeated last year, when a feral population from The Hague was found to have expanded...

Scops Owl sounds like this... repeat this 1000 times... (Recorded by me).
