Japanese Paradise-flycatcher (1 Viewer)

On 7 Sep. there were some migrants at Xiaoyangshan Island. Most of them were Brown Shrikes Lanius cristatus confusus, with only one subspecies L.c.superciliosus.Near the fresh water well where I met a Black Bittern in summer,I flushed a Little Heron.4 juv Dollar Bird flew about.Besides the warblers and flycatchers,I could often hear a series of hard "tsack" undergrowth. They were juv or female Siberian Blue Robin.
On top of a big rock in a bay where I often meet Black-capped Kingfisher, there was again a Black-capped.How I wish it be a Ruddy Kingfisher:)
The most interesting birds were 3 paradise-flycatcher.Dark upperside, dark tail, dark breast contrasting sharply with belly, dark head--not the summer breeder Asian but rare migrant Japanese Paradise-flycatcher!It's been 3 years since I met them in an autumn.Cheers!

mcaribou, thanks for that report. You are amazing; you are doing some really important birding. Great job.
