In Old Claraghatlea (1 Viewer)

In Claraghatlea where I first saw light of day
In the grove by the old stream I often did play
With siblings and friends we often played hide and seek
Since that long gone time there's been many a week
For road widening purposes it does seem sad to say
The County Council cut down the grove trees and carted them away
And covered the moorhen pond in gravel and clay
Some places I loved seem so ugly today
In Winter on the moorhen pond we used to skate
Our own sort of happiness we did create
In old Claraghatlea by many a hedgerow
The stream from the high ground forever does flow
Through fields towards the river with a babbling tongue
Through old places I dearly loved when I was young
