Asio capensis tingitanus
The African marsh owl Asio capensis occur mainly in tropical africa. the north african march owl Asio capensis tingitanus is an endemic subspecies witch isolated in a very small population in the North of Morocco. he prefers wetland with large and hight grassland as Scirpus sp and Juncus sp. Breeding period occur between march to june. Male and female laid 2-4 eggs. They hunt especially small mammals (shrew, gerbil, ..). Nowaday, the owl is restricted to 3 localities in Morocco. Its range became smaller due to tourist disturbance, poaching, Habitat destruction and eggs collecting.
