Bittern (Botaurus stellaris)

Taken on Sunday at Potteric Carr, near Doncaster. I had only just arrived at the hide to meet a friend who has also just upgraded to the Canon 10D when the Bittern appeared slowly out of the reeds and into the open.
I think I still need some more practice, but this is not bad for the first proper trial with the camera.
