Blue-and-yellow Tanager
This drab individual appears to be a juvenile based on its extruded gape flanges. They are dull brownish gray above and paler below, completely devoid of color. We also saw a bright showy male but never got a photo. Birds in Uruguay are presumably the nominate race characterized by adult males having a black-back. Sometimes placed in the genus "Pipraeidea" or "Thraupis."
