Bower's Shrike-thrush (Colluricincla boweri)

A delightful bird, obviously larger than the more common Little Shrike-thrush, but with just as melodic a call when it wants to. Bower's, however, also has a bizarre range of pops and gurgles of endless variety.
Habitat
high-altitude tropical rainforest
Location
Mt Lewis, Qld
Date taken
Deember 2006
Scientific name
Colluricincla boweri
Equipment used
20D, Canon 500 f/4
WOW, I didn't know this Shrike-Thrush. It is a very nice portrait with a great pose. Thanks a lot for it, it is a pleasure to "meet" him! ;)

Actually, looking at the shot through fresh eyes, it occurs to me that it probably seems like a very small (House Sparrow size) bird, which it isn't. They are getting on towards Common Blackbird size, say about the same as a European Starling - from memory, a touch bigger.

Hi Tony. Lovely shot of a bird that remains on my wish-list - and would require a lot of travel to even have a chance of seeing it.
