Breakfast - Rat on a Limb (Buteo lineatus)

This Red-shouldered hawk was being mobbed by crows just across the street from my house, when I first saw it. I grabbed my camera and started trying to get some pictures of it. I started at about 40 yards and slowly moved up toward it. I was able to move completely around the tree taking pictures as it was enjoying its breakfast so much.

This is the second hawk I have seen in that yard, recently. My neighbor must have fatter rats than I do.

That's a wonderfully detailed picture you've taken of this hawk - very well done lad.

A merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and your family.
