Chilean Flamingo
Chilean Flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis) Though two other species of Flamingo occur in Peru, Jamess and the Andean; the Chilean adult is easily recognized by its reddish knees. Photographed about 30 km southeast of Lima along the coast in one of the many up crops of the Rio Rmac forming a shallow open water system with surrounding freshwater marsh. Arid Tropical Life Zone at ca. 2 m (6.5 ft) elevation. Sexes similar. Andean Coot is in the background.
