Dingy Skipper (Erynnis tages)

I hadn't seen one of these before today. I was slowly walking through a chalk meadow looking for Fly Orchids when I spotted what I thought was a good sized moth fluttering about. It landed on a Knapweed dead head so I carefully approached it with camera on macro, kneeling down on the wet grass, slowly leaning towards it at full stretch and..... it flew off.
Oh bother! I thought (well sort of) but just as I was about to get up it came back and settled in the same place. This time I got a couple of good images. A few more came by and they intertwined in flight with each other and flew off.
This moth turned out to be a Dingy Skipper Butterfly. I can see why it's called that as it hasn't got much colour at all. Still, it's a first, and an indicator of a healthy environment, so I am pleased.
