Giraffe
Decided to do another Giraffe as the last one was very popular and sold.
Date taken
10/05/2012
Scientific name
Giraffa camelopardalis
Equipment used
Watercolour
Another superb work of art and it's fascinating to compare it with the other. An excellent study. The faces cautiously(?) glancing in oppositie directions, and the billowing clouds in the background, have created a completely different atmosphere from the first work. The first was harmonious, delicate, pretty. This one, although equally pretty, carries some weight. Both marvelous, but I think I like this one even more than the first. How about doing another one? This is fun! ... Thanks for two exceptionally fine works!!

Thanks everyone for your comments.
The first one was a commission and the price did not cover a 'background'. I actually prefer the first but think it was worth adding the thunderstorm. 2010 in Kruger the storms were rolling through and were a fantastic backing for the animals. Added drama, sense of renewal,... Clipped by the light from setting sun - just fantastic. I was stunned when two days after a storm went through the landscape was transformed from leafless trees and dry grass to a sea of bright green. Every seemingly dead tree and shrub was covered in bright green shoots.
I'm taking two groups through Tanzania - Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Manyara can't wait! See my web site for images and details of safari.
