Green Kingfisher (Chloroceryle americana)

This is the only Kingfisher that I see along the river, and one of the smaller ones. It flies very low over the water making its characteristic clicking sound, and then lands on this post. The bird in this picture is a female; the male has a broad chestnut band across the upper breast.
Habitat
Rivers, lakes, marshes, and swamps
Location
East Bank Berbice, Guyana, S. America
Date taken
5/20/2004
Scientific name
Chloroceryle americana

Kingfishers are just the neatest birds (in my opinion), I wish we had one like this up here...fat chance, ah well traveling to Arizona in the summer, might see one there. Great pic, thanks.
