Harris's Hummingbird (Calypte harrisii aprilii)

I happened on this stunning sight last Sat., April 1, 2006. The Harris Hummingbird was long sought by Edward Harris, a friend of John J. Audubon, and was reported to hunt in small packs of two to three birds, sometimes even perching upon each other to gain a better view of potential prey from atop sturdy flower tops. Originally restricted to the SW U.S., they are thought to have spread northwest-ward looking for fertile habitat due to gradual loss of natural adobe mounds, to urban development.
Habitat
prefers layered Adobe platforms but tolerates sturdy flower stalks
Location
only found inside Mydell, Oregon
Scientific name
Calypte harrisii aprilii
Equipment used
Vivid Imagination M55-Cranium
You should have posted this on the first of the month! Great image.
