Herring Gull feeding its young a freshwater crayfish

I was surprised to see this adult gull feeding its now almost adult chick with a freshwater cray fish, scooped up from the Bird Sanctuary pond on Hampstead Heath. The Cormorant behind that pair showed no interested in the catch, at all.
Location
Hampstead Heath, Bird Sanctuary Pond, London, England
Date taken
04 December 2019
Equipment used
Fujifilm X-T3, XF 100-400
An awesome moment to capture. The cormorant in the background only adds to the scene. tfs!

What a stunning shot, Louis! Not only the behaviour, but the composition and lighting are fabulous.

LOL Probably too scared to take on a Herring Gull Louis.

That's a superb picture you've taken of this group lad. I don't remember the Bird Sanctuary pond; is that one of the ponds near the Hampstead Heath Rail Station?

Thanks, all for your kind comments. They really help me to improve my confidence in photographing wildlife.

Delia Todd: the pond is actually the in the opposite corner to the rail station on the Highgate Side of the heath. It is a lovely spot and in addition to Cormorants, Gulls and various ducks I am currently observing a Kingfisher each day.
