You are incredibly lucky to get such a good picture, we normally find that they fly away at the slightest movement.

Yes,I am! At that day I wanted to observe the Great Flamingos in Koroneia.
The Hoopoe was first very busy with its sandbath,then I had paar seconds to take this shot! :)
 
I agree with Marmot, this species normally flies away just as you are about to press the shutter. Good shot.
