Taken near Stockerau, Austria at the end of July from a distance of about three meters with my Olympus E-30 on my 600mm telescope. These guys were very hard to track. They are very quick and the water was also flowing.

Old arm of the Danube
Location
Near Stockerau, Austria
Date taken
31 July, 2012
Scientific name
Gerris lacustris
Equipment used

Interesting macro shot.....have only seen a Water-strider once, very fast moving ....thanks for sharing!

Cool. The ring formations are interesting, one would expect them to be circular.
