Yeah!! That's a Mallard all right Daley. He's moulting at the moment, which is why he looks so tatty. They keep themselves rather hidden usually at this time of year because they can't really fly.

I saw some today too.... and we've both seen the more unusual purple head iridescence (usually green, occasionally blue). It does rather depend on the light.

A great picture this on lad - very well done.
