Metallic Pigeon (Columba vitiensis)

The throat patch and intensity of iridescence vary geographically. This is the fairly widespread "C. v. halmaheira" which ranges through the Moluccas. It has a white throat and more extensive iridescence. Sometimes split under the name White-throated Pigeon. Samoan population with brownish crown and different voice has also been proposed as a separate species "Samoan Wood Pigeon."
