Mr. Acorn Woodpecker

A regular visitor to my deck all year around. This is a male Acorn Woodpecker. A female would have black between the red and white on top of the head. Peanuts in the shell are their first choice, but eat sunflower and many other seeds. Shy.

Oak Trees at 2500 feet ASL.

Wow and Wow, I've taken a lot of shots of these in the Huachuca Mountains, but have never gotten this kind of close-up. You must have been very close, even with cropping. The feather details are terrific, and the colors are spot on.
