Northern Shoveler (male) (Anas clypeata)

Taken at the Martin Luther King Jr. Regional Shoreline at about 60m.

Probably a female Northern Shoveler there in front, but she was too busy looking for food.

Last of my first batch photos to be processed from a Camera RAW original. Different view from the flapping one uploaded earlier.

Oh ... you've got the rare blue iridescence on his head in this picture Calvin.

A super image - there's something about Shovelers that I love; they always look so happy.

Oh! She's done a disappearing act, Kevin! Nice shot of the chap, though.

Funny, lately my photos of these shovelers all seem to be blue iridescence, guess I'm lucky on the lighting. :)

And yeah, the dabblers rarely come-up for air, or only peek their nostrils above water. Between that and the sheer distances away they are from me, makes these ducks tough to get good photos of. Lots of "headless duck" or "bobbing duck butt" or "bill-less duck" shots from most attempts. LOL.
