During childhood days
Lying on the roof
At my country home
In cloudless summer sky
I saw often
Cranes flying across
Deep moonlit sky
T'was like a dream with open eyes
Their bugle like calls
Heralded the onset of
much awaited Monsoon
Standing tall
Loved & revered
For friendship, fidelity & temperament
Falling prey now
To greed & desperate development


It is rare to see a group of 5 of these graceful, more than 5 feet tall cranes together nowadays
