Red-browed Finch (Neochmia temporalis)

Finding water in this part of Oz following ~10 years of drought guarenteed numerous birds coming in. I found a couple of such spots. As an aside, it was truly sad as numerous reknowned birding spots we went to were defunct due to drought ... not to mention the effects on the local people, especially the pastoralists.

nice photo ... but sad story ... oft repeated elsewhere . Similar things are happening in Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary & N P , just 60 Km away from New Delhi ... A photo in a National Daily yesterday showed cows eating dying fish ...
