Red-headed Weaver
On a walk by myself after our tour ended, I lucked out with this striking male Some authors put this unique, colorful weaver in the genus "Malimbus." The ones I saw ten years ago in Tanzania (A. r. leuconotus) had a black face mask which this one (A. r. rubriceps) lacks. There is also a population (formerly A. r. jubaensis) in coastal East Africa in which the male is almost all red. However it has recently been split as a separate species now called Red Weaver.
