Hallo Brian,

this is a Rppell's Bustard (Eupodotis (Heterotetrax) rueppellii), the Barrow's ssp. of White-bellied Bustard (Eupodotis senegalensis barrowii) will not occur in Namibia.

Nethertheless a nice shot, Rudi

What a great picture you've taken of this bustard Brian.... not a species we see too much of.

I was struggling to work out the subspecies too lad but had another go when I saw your plea. The best I can do is, according to Avibase, it could be mackenziei, which is rare/accidental to Namibia. None of the other subspecies seem to visit Namibia at all.

A great find for you lad. Well done.

Hi Delia,

Thank you. I think Rudi has nailed it with Eupodotis rueppelii. I had missed it in my search. The location of that one allows Namibia.
