Colonial youth
Everyone takes the Black headed gulls for granted but how many have closely seen inside their breeding colonies or their newly hatched young. I had no idea how these hicks were brought up until I watched them in the colonies at close hand. It was a very insightful glimpse of the life of this beautiful bird.

nice shot of wee baldy.. i do really enjoy watching the BHGs, especially at breeding colonies, a much underappreciated bird with a lot of character.

A cute shot! It is interesting to see how fast the chicks of water bird can start out their venture too!
 
Always enjoy these birds. They move here quite early and they are beautiful birds to watch. Smashing photo of this little one, Annette! :clap:
