Brown Quail
Steve Schoech

Brown Quail (Synoicus ypsilophorus)

One of the first birds seen/photographed during my time in Oz. What's odd is that I don't recall seeing another in the ensuing 9 months.
Habitat
Coastal scurb/grassland
Location
Wombarra (near Woolongong), New South Wales, Australia
Date taken
30 September 2007
Scientific name
Synoicus ypsilophorus
Equipment used
Nikon D2Xs w/ Nikkor 600mm AF-S
:eek!: If they behave like the European ones, I can bet this is a very difficult bird to see... I think you've been a jolly lucky guy, Steve, what a beautiful shot of this super encounter, very well done!!!
