Starlings in heart formation

Starlings in heart formation (Sturnus vulgaris)

There's currently a modest sized Starling roost of about 10-12,000 birds at Fen Drayton Lakes RSPB reserve (between Cambridge and Huntingdon) and, as in previous years, I've spent many evenings photographing them over the last 2-3 weeks.
Only rarely does the perfect combination of a beautiful sunset and large numbers of swirling birds performing their wonderful aerobatics (in the right place and at the right time) seem to occur. However such a combination occurred a couple of weeks ago and this is one of many images I captured that evening.

That is incredible! Beautiful sunset picture and then to have a flock of Starlings form a stylized heart! Practicing for Valentine's Day? Great capture and thanks for sharing.

Very nice Jeff, I am sure I can see a Mickey mouse face in there too ! Or maybe its just me.......... great photo, well done.
