Gray-breasted Mountain-toucan
Gray-breasted Mountain-toucan (Andigena hypoglauca lateralis) Two subspecies have been described with the nominate being found north and east of Peru with dark eyes, whereas this subspecies lateralis has pale eyes. Photographed early morning in dense fog along the main road towards Abra Malaga Pass vicinity, ca. 35 km NNW of Ollantaytambo in upper montane forest at ca. 3400 m elevation in the Puna Life Zone. Cusco Region and the La Convencion Province. I exhausted my blue filters to reduce the effects of the fog just to make this photo useable. Sexes similar.
