Peregrine hunting at Starlings

Peregrine hunting at Starlings

Probably one of my best pics this year, an action shot of a Peregrine chasing a flock of Starlings. Due to the clouded sky it was already pretty monochromatic, so nothing's adjusted there. Just cropped a bit above and below, the width is still like the full-frame pic.

Within this pic I like the tension, movement and panic, you see how the Starlings pack tightly together to avoid being snatched by their predator.

Hope you like it!

best,
Luc

Brilliant, Luc. You can see the difference of speed between the Peregrine and the Starling flock. It takes some nerves to be a Starling.. ;) Love this!!

Oh dear, now I'm going to have trouble choosing what to vote for. This is a fascinating action image and a dramatic graphic overall.

I love this image, it's a beautiful capture of some great behaviour, nature at it's finest. Really well framed image.

Thanks all! Now, after more than 2 weeks of following these birds, I haven't succeeded in taking better shots than the ones of this particulair day. Conclusion: you have to be very patience for a combination of Peregrine and starlings!

best,
Luc
