American Dipper
American Dipper (Cinclus mexicanus ardesiacus) Five subspecies are recognized including the nominate with subspecies ardesiacus being the only one mapped for Costa Rica. Photographed along Ri Savegre on Trogon Lodge grounds. Quetzal Valley in San Gerardo de Dota, San Jos Province, Costa Rica at ca. 2,225 m (7,300 ft) in the Cordillera de Talamancas. Upper montane cloud forest, riparian. Sexes similar.

Great closeup. I'll always remember the one and only dipper I've seen, in the Big Horns back in 1981. Your hummer sign was really neat.
 
Different colouring to our species but it still has the unmistakable Dipper stance. A marvellous shot of this big footed beauty Stanley.
