Thanks, Ian. I had a chance to visit my house on Monday and had a great birding day. The tree was a victim of a fire that destroyed the canyon in 2007.

I do so love seeing these quail with their top knots. A super shot Sue.

Fire can be so destructive can't it - I hope the area recovers soon.

Thanks, Delia. Things look pretty good, considering. We had all we owned in a couple of storage units on the property and everything was burned. I was more upset at the devastation to the beautiful canyon than I was with the loss of our stuff. Life is back and I only hope we don't have another fire like that one out there in my lifetime. The quail population hasn't seemed to have suffered, the place is crawling with them!
