Super capture! These guys are soo shy and so few of them around. A very rare shot indeed.

Best close-up in focus I have seen for some years of just a wild bird.

You mention Lincolnshire, I had one family of owls I also photographed there. I was near Whaplode St, Catherines before I moved here last winter. About 5 years there. I have beautiful shots of the owls but only hunting and carrying food. I never got lucky enough to have the camera in my hands as sometimes daily the male flew right past me, with-in 10-20 feet.
